The session will start with an update from Peter Thompson, the Acting Curriculum Inspector NESA who will give on update on Stage 5 syllabus development. The session will then be followed by a data workshop with the ACARA's Martin Levin's. This workshop is designed to enhance your understanding of data and its simple manipulation in spreadsheets for Years 5-6 and 7-8. This is demonstrated step by step and in the context of finding the cheapest Big Mac in the world. Martin is currently working in a team from the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority helping 160 disadvantaged schools around Australia deploy the relatively new Digital Technologies curriculum. This position covers a panoply of activities working with students, teachers, lead teachers, school executive and principals, and jurisdictional leaders. In this role Martin has also contributed to the Australian Curriculum Review, for which he has been part of a team developing elaborations for content—showing what this content would look like in a classroom.
