Session 2: For Years 7–8: using Python on Micro:bits: How scary is that? How you can help kids transition from visual coding to a general purpose computing language.

Session 3: For Years 9–10: Bored with getting an Arduino to make an LED blink?  Here’s a hint: so are your kids. So let’s use the power of the Arduino IDE to put a range of environmental data into the cloud!

Stream 3 - Various

Session 1 with Sam Pennington: Come and make a flappy bird game in Greenfoot JAVA, this programming environment is great for Stage 5 IST. Greenfoot JAVA can also be used in Stage 6 Software Design particularly when teaching Programming Paradigms as an example of an Object Orientated program. It makes the whole idea of instantiating objects easy to see and understand. You can visually see the hierarchy and how inheritance works using the Actor Class. All you need to participate is the latest version of Greenfoot JAVA downloaded from the www.greenfoot.org.

Session 2 with Karen Binns: Transmedia Making in Science and Technology. Transmedia is a project that combines multiple media forms. Karen will share a Stage 3 Mission to Mars project that involved making, Minecraft and robotics. There will be time during the session for teachers to share or ask questions about units of work that they are teaching.

Session 3 with Helen Kardiasmenos: AR/VR in K-6. Discover how to use VR/AR tools effectively in your classroom to make real-world connections whilst meeting curriculum outcomes. See how your K-6 students can use technology to superimpose information onto a real-world environment.
